God Help The Girl reaches the 13th place in the UK Indie Album Charts, but can not even placed in the Top 50 on the ranking of top selling albums. Nevertheless, the criticism and the web are not bad at all in accepting the album, things you evice by the many positive reviews in the various portals and opinions circulating on the forums. Besides the already cited review of Ondarock very positive is the review that has been expressed by the portal Pitchfork which gives a good rating (7.5) to the album and spends a few flattering words on the new compositive vein of Murdoch. Also good reception in Italy: SentireAscoltare gives the album a score of 6.8 emphasizing a "certain compositional freshness missing in the last years of their [the Belle and Sebastian, ndr] approach to pop, to a more orchestral and breath fashioned in line with the original spirit." Similar proceedings appeared on the site Indieforbunnies.com: 3/5 vote. Common denominator of reviews: the almost unanimous appreciation for the voice of Catherine Ireton.
