In 500 Days of Summer, Summer quotes a Belle & Sebastian lyric in her senior yearbook, sparking a unprecedented interest in the Glaswegian indie pop collective amongst her classmates. In reality, our high school days (as well as our college days, and our twenties) were rife in the musings of Belle & Sebastian and frontman/principal songwriter Stuart Murdoch: tales of schoolchildren, depression, life of the dole and unrequited love (or almost worse, the complications of requited love) have illustrated our musical tastes ever since we first got our hands on B&S’s magnum opus, If You’re Feeling Sinister, all those many years ago.

Fans of Glaswegian twee pop, take note: Belle and Sebastian just might be returning with a new album. While front-man Stuart Murdoch has been keeping busy with his God Help the Girl project, rumours are brewing that a new B&S album is coming up fast. If you head on over to Belle and Sebastian’s website, the front page depicts Murdoch writing in a notebook with a skyline behind him. Beneath the picture, the caption reads: “Here’s some evidence of activity to reassure you kids who are fretting on the Q&A’s. Look behind Stuart… could that be another B&S record on the horizon?” Unfortunately, that’s all the band are giving us to go on at the moment, but the album would mark Belle and Sebastian's first since 2006's The Life Pursuit.

In attesa di ulteriori notizie della band, e sull'onda dell'entusiasmo per il successo del nuovo contest, il sito belleandsebastian.it in collaborazione con Indipendente mette in palio due ingressi per il concerto di Julian Plenti (alias Paul Banks, frontman dei newyorkesi Interpol). Un debutto solista da non perdere che si terrà il prossimo 12 Dicembre a Milano, presso i Magazzini Generali.I due ingressi andranno all'unico fortunato che verrà estratto il prossimo 23 Novembre. Mi rendo conto di quanto il titolo sia scontato, dato il periodo dell'anno in cui siamo, ma stanotte la mia città è stata incredibilmente ricoperta di neve (dal colore girgio-perla del cielo, può essere che ne cada ancora) e voglio festeggiare questo raro evento con voi. Per quanto non sia proprio piacevolissimo tornare a casa alle tre di notte con una Cinquecento ormai dodicenne, non posso non essere felice della luce e della calma che entrano dalla mia finestra in questo momento, con la palma del mio giardino singolarmente bianca e fuori posto vicino all'agrifoglio.
